DESCRIPTION

The holdings consist of 54 photographs, mostly from 1941–1944; the prints are 20 x 24 inches. In these photographs, Soviet Jewish photojournalist Boris Kudoyarov captures the architectural destruction suffered by Leningrad during the siege, civilian life under the blockade, and the fighting on the Leningrad Front. Kudoyarov was employed by the newspaper “Komsomolskaya Pravda” during World War II and stayed in Leningrad throughout the blockade, producing an estimated 3,000 photographs.
