Popular tales of WWI include rats, lice, machine guns, deadly gas, and the horrors of a trench. It is no wonder soldiers crave the comforts and culture of home in the form of care packages, photographs, and letters. Shown here is an image on a postcard of English officers finding a moment of relaxation in their travels during WWI. Even though the majority of the war effort was grueling and filled with hardship and death, little reminders of home kept spirits high. English officers have set up a table on their long trail, stealing a moment or two of a tradition, reminding them of home.
